Spire Motorsports has issued a new statement in response to the latest legal actions filed by Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). The NASCAR team has found itself in the midst of an intense legal conflict since JGR sued them for an alleged plan to steal sensitive information.
This week, JGR seeks for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina to hold former competition director Chris Gabehart, as well as Spire, in contempt and aims to impose sanctions for the deletion of text messages that are relevant to the case.
Spire, for its part, has defended its position through a statement signed by its co-owner, Jeff Dickerson. In this, they emphasize that JGR’s claims are unfounded, as they have been previously dismissed by the courts.
“Joe Gibbs Racing cannot control what other teams do through legal actions. They cannot claim ownership over racing strategies or the professionals in this industry,” stated Dickerson, reaffirming the integrity and ethics of the Spire team.
The team is currently celebrating its best season, with two victories and with drivers Carson Hocevar and Daniel Suárez competing in the Chase for the 2026 championship. “I am very proud of the work we are doing. Our story as an ‘underdog’ team continues to inspire fans nationwide. Spire will not be intimidated,” concluded Dickerson.
