F1 has shared the video from Azerbaijan GP where a cat came in front of the safety car, as Romain Grosjean shows his trophies and Daniel Ricciardo is at MET Gala.

The onboard from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc didn’t catch the moment when he spotted a cat in front of the safety car during the Azerbaijan GP’s sprint race in Baku. The F1 TV had the rear view onboard on at the moment it happened at the start of a new lap.

Leclerc came on the radio to report about a cat which his engineer and media heard as ‘cut’. The Monegasque clarified post-race that he said cat and not cut. F1 has finally shared the onboard from the safety car which shows a black cat trying to cross the road.

With the car coming towards her, she quickly went back. “I said a cat – which is different,” said Leclerc. “There was a cat in the middle of the road and the Safety Car had to stop – but I think I was probably the only one who saw that?

“In the exit of Turn 1 there was a cat and the Safety Car braked. It wasn’t too bad, but I just felt like I was going to say…”, as Red Bull’s Sergio Perez – who didn’t spot it – quipped: “I didn’t see it – but maybe Max can adopt the cat!”

Away from Baku, ex-F1 driver Romain Grosjean had a solid IndyCar race in Alabama and almost had his first win in the championship with Andretti, but for a wide moment which allowed Penske’s Scott McLaughlin to snatch it away from him.

While adding another IndyCar trophy, Grosjean shared of securing his F1 trophies that he won when racing for Lotus Renault – now Alpine – back in 2012, 2013 and 2015. The Frenchman was handed the original trophies that he won which usually the team keeps.

He noted two more are on their way, but looking at the pictures the trophies with him were from Bahrain GP (P3 both in 2012 and 2013), Canadian GP (P2, 2012), Hungarian GP (P3, 2012), Korean GP (P3, 2013), Indian GP (P3, 2013), US GP (P2, 2013) and Belgium GP (P3, 2015). The ones missing are German GP (P3, 2013) and Japanese GP (P3, 2013).

And from another of a F1 driver who is presently not racing in the series, Red Bull reserve Ricciardo had his debut at the 2023 MET Gala event taking place in New York. The Australian driver had his run alongside Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway.

The event is usually visited by Lewis Hamilton but with him busy traveling from Azerbaijan to Miami for this weekend’s American F1 race, the event saw Ricciardo do the honours. The Australian wore the design of Thom Browne
