Carlos Sainz remained on top in FP3 of F1 Singapore GP as he led George Russell and Lando Norris, with no Red Bull in Top 3.
The not so valuable day time running in FP3 saw Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz still lead the way in F1 Singapore GP after his 1m32.065s lap towards the end of the session. He did have a late moment but saved himself well to not cause a crash at the end.
He was only 0.069s quicker than Mercedes’ George Russell who went for a late quick lap where he leapfrogged McLaren’s Lando Norris and end up close to Sainz. It was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in fourth and looking to improve but not to be.
He went purple in Sector 1 but a mistake in Sector 2 meant he aborted the lap. And that allowed Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to go a bit quicker and take fourth from Leclerc. The Dutchman complained about upshifts throughout the session.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton dropped to sixth from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri who doesn’t have all the updates. The other Red Bull of Sergio Perez was eighth after his struggles with balance especially with the rear end of the car as he did so on Friday.
Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg popped in ninth from AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, who improved late to end up inside the Top 10. He dropped the other Haas of Kevin Magnussen to 11th as Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was 12th from the Aston Martin pair.
It was Fernando Alonso in 13th from Lance Stroll, with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in 15th. AlphaTauri’s Liam Lawson and Williams’ Alexander Albon slotted in 16th and 17th where both caused yellow flag moments after their offs at separate occasions.
Lawson almost binned it in the barrier at Turn 1-2 but the car stopped on time, while Albon went deep at Turn 14. The Alfa Romeo pair of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu slotted in 18th and 19th, with Williams’ Logan Sargeant in 20th.
