Robert Shwartzman has won the Nürburgring Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, in Germany, in the first race of the weekend. The Russian is the new leader of the championship and has led a new one-two for R-ace GP with Defourny second. Fenestraz completes the podium.

At the start, Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) held the top spot, followed by Max Defourny (R-ace GP), who resisted the attacks of Dan Ticktum (Arden Motorsport) in the first corner. The Red Bull youngster would be overtaken by Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) on ??the next lap.

Meanwhile, championship leader Will Palmer (R-ace GP) was trying to make it up from ninth, but he would only be able to climb one place.

Ahead of the Briton, it seemed that Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing) could beat Ticktum for fourth, but he was surprised by Henrique Chaves (AVF), who overtook him for the fifth place. Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing) joined the party but could not improve his seventh place.

In the lead, the duel was between Shwartzman and Defourny. Both drivers proved to be the strongest of the weekend achieving fastest lap after fastest lap. Defourny did not stand a chance and finished 0.615 seconds from the Russian.

It is the fourth win of the season for Shwartzman, who leads a new one-two for R-ace GP with Defourny second. Fenestraz completes the podium while Ticktum gets the best result for the rookies.

The win allows Shwartzman to beat Palmer in the championship. The young driver of the SMP Racing program is the new leader with 194 points, 16 more than his rival. Fenestraz remains in third place 27 points down, while Defourny goes up quietly and is already fourth 61 points down.
