Sauber has posted a cryptic message with regards to its team name after announcing it when the FIA released the F1 2024 entry list.
With Alfa Romeo leaving F1, the name Sauber is supposed to make an official return on the results sheet in 2024. In-line with it, the Swiss outfit released its name when the FIA revealed the provisional entry list for the new season ahead.
The new name was stated to be ‘Stake F1 Kick Sauber’, where they noted the chassis name to be Kick Sauber C44. They enhanced the deal with Stake and Kick, giving its naming rights as well, but it isn’t clear if this will be its final name.
For now, the Alfa Romeo name stays on the website and its social handles as only on January 1, 2024, they are supposed to change the names. But ahead of that, Sauber released a cryptic post noting about the said name not being final.
It is unclear if this is just a promotional gimmick to unveil its new identity on January 1 and so it remains to be seen if they further change the name or just reveal the new look. The F1 fans weren’t too pleased with the released name by the Swiss team.
“It seems our recently released team name has been getting a lot of attention,” said the statement. “While we’re not ready to unveil the final result yet, we are aware of what’s at stake. Rest assured, we’re on a mission to unleash the most exciting team identity this team has ever seen. Gone are the days of the short and sweet. We’re cooking up a feast.”
