Logan Sargeant says Alexander Albon has superseded in F1 2023 where the Thai has made sure to score points to them ahead in the standings.

Whether from result point of view or performance, Albon did out-drive Sargeant at Williams in F1 2023. The American scored the one point when the Thai scored the maximum which helped the team to end up seventh in the standings.

Sargeant believes Albon to be superseding in 2023 and acknowledges that the Thai did the maximum work from points point of view. The American, though, is happy that he managed to find some pace in the second half and get close to his teammate.

Now he has another season to go toe-in-toe with Albon to help Williams score well. “I think Alex has been superseding this year,” said Sargeant. “I think we haven’t always had a car that’s easy to score points and Alex was always a little bit ahead to make sure he was there to score them. I mean Alex has done a phenomenal job all year and he’s majorly to be thanked for that but obviously the progress that I have been making through the year has been really nice for me to see.

“I don’t think it’s always been as bad as it looks, especially since the summer break. But I’m proud of how I kept fighting over the whole year. And hopefully I can contribute more in the future but obviously the team has done great with the car in 2023.

“I think it speaks even more volume to the fact that we brought only one upgrade to the car in the whole season and to do what we did was strong. We can be proud of that and hopefully the car will be a step forward this year,” summed up Sargeant.
