Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton led the way in FP1 of F1 Sao Paulo GP a.k.a Brazil GP ahead of the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

It was hectic FP1 session in F1 Sao Paulo GP (Brazil GP) as teams tried to soak in as much data ahead of the qualifying and sprint event, with Mercedes’ Hamilton (1m09.050s) on top ahead of the Red Bull duo of Verstappen (1m09.417s) and Perez (1m09.492s).

The Red Bull duo started off well but Hamilton eked out more time to go ahead by 0.069s with a new ICE installed on the back of his car. The Brit is to drop by five places for the Sunday’s race depending on the result of sprint qualifying.

There were minor offs for both Hamilton and Verstappen, more like kerbs run, as Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas (1m09.567s) slotted in fourth from AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m09.880s). The session also saw suspension set-up changes for the Brit.

The Ferrari duo of Carlos Sainz (1m10.124s) and Charles Leclerc (1m10.142s) were fifth and sixth as Monegasque had a kerb run too earlier in the session, with Alpine pair of Esteban Ocon (1m10.145s) and Fernando Alonso (1m10.201s) following them.

The Alpine duo set their best time on the medium tyres, as Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll (1m10.352s) rounded out the Top 10 from the other AlphaTauri of Yuki Tsunoda. The other Aston Martin of Sebastian Vettel was just behind in 12th.

They led Alfa Romeo pair of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, where the Finn had quite the moment early in the session. McLaren’s Lando Norris was 15th from Haas’ Mick Schumacher, who was faster than the two Williams F1 drivers.

It was Nicholas Latifi ahead in 17th from George Russell, with McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo in 19th from the other Haas of Nikita Mazepin. His teammate had a fast moment on one of his laps, as the two McLaren drivers set their best time on medium tyres too.
