Carlos Sainz confirmed from his side too that he will leave Ferrari at the end of the 2024 F1 season and that he will announce his future in due course.

Amid the big news of Lewis Hamilton switching from Mercedes to Ferrari in a multi-year deal from 2025 F1 season onward, it left Sainz high and dry with no drive beyond the 2024 season. This year will be the last of the Spaniard with the Italian manufacturer.

Having joined Ferrari to replace Sebastian Vettel from McLaren, Sainz has had an up and down time with the team alongside Charles Leclerc. Even though the Spaniard has picked up a win, it wasn’t enough to secure a drive beyond his current contract.

Due to the availability of Hamilton, – which was a surprise – Ferrari opted to go for the Brit instead of Sainz, who was looking likely to remain with them. But the greed of a 7-time world champion certainly can entice anybody and John Elkann went for it.

Now Sainz is out of drive but he notes that he will give his all in 2024 and will announce his future in due course with multiple teams where he could find a seat. Mercedes certainly has one seat, so has Red Bull and even Audi who comes in during the 2026 season.

“Following today’s news, Scuderia Ferrari and myself will part ways at the end of 2024,” Sainz said. “We still have a long season ahead of us and, like always, I will give my absolute best for the Team and for the Tifosi all around the world. News about my future will be announced in due course.”
