Robert Kubica got back on the Williams. It was not an easy day for the Polish driver as he drived when the conditions of the track and atmospheric were worse. Kubica points out that they have worked well despite the conditions and that he now knows the car better in order to give a closer view of the performance of the Grove car: “We have done what we could. Well for being back in the car, it will give me a better idea of how it works and what we should improve. Positive things, but also things that we should work on. The conditions have not been ideal.”
He fired hard against reporters when he was asked if despite his disability after the accident, he felt comfortable in the car or needed to improve something in that regard: “I’ve always been comfortable. They have been inventions of the press that was not. I will not change anything because if I do, you will say I’m not comfortable. It is clear that I have my limitations, I have never hidden it. The problem is that you always ask the same thing, not only you, in general”, Robert told the journalist who apologized. “It’s nothing personal”, the Polish replied.
On his feelings about the car, Robert says he is happy: “The afternoon was very complicated. It was getting worse, not improving the track, but I think we have done a good job. The feelings have been positive and now we know better where we have to work. I think we have done everything we could”, said Kubica, who was happy to get back into an F1: “It’s a good feeling. I’m enjoying it. I have the opportunity to drive, which gives me a better global vision and I can go deeper in my role in the team. I will try to help my partners.”
He has also been asked about Williams’ decision not to opt for him as official driver: “Yes, I have to be honest, of course I was disappointed, but I know how things are going and now I’m honestly happy with what I have. I think it’s important to enjoy and the role I have in Williams is interesting. I’m enjoying more than I had thought.”
Williams also talked about the situation on track: “It was a delicate situation because I had to give my feelings of the car, go fast, but had no margin for error due to weather. This has ruined the entire test and has put us all in difficulties”. The Circuit of Barcelona-Cataluña has also been remembered for its best moment: “My best memory of this circuit was in 2005, my first test with Renault. That was a really amazing car,” a car that made Alonso the world champion and also won the constructors’ championship.
