Red Bull has announced five more hirings in their new powertrain division as it steps into the new world of developing its own F1 power unit.
After the hiring of Ben Hodgkinson, Red Bull has roped in five more personnel – all of whom have worked with Mercedes HPP at Brixworth. They join the F1 outfit’s powertrain division, where they will not only work on 2022 engine, but also the one to come in 2025.
Red Bull also ‘officially’ confirmed that the Milton Keynes base will not only have the senior F1 outfit’s work but also its sister team, AlphaTauri. The new hiring will mingle with the chassis department to closely work on the best solution for their car.
Here’s the list of appointments and their roles –
PU Production Director – Steve Blewett
Head of Powertrains Electronics and ERS – Omid Mostaghimi
Head of Mechanical Design ERS – Pip Clode
Head of PU Design ICE – Anton Mayo
Group Leader ICE Operations – Steve Brodie
In addition, Red Bull has also hired a new Head of Mechanical Development, whose name will be revealed at a later stage. “Red Bull’s mission to bring all aspects of its Formula One operations in-house through Red Bull Powertrains is an enormously exciting undertaking but also an extremely demanding one, and we know that success will only be achieved by bringing in the best and brightest talent, by providing them with the right tools and by creating the right environment in which they can thrive,” said Christian Horner.
