Fabio Quartararo has expressed his concern after the race at the Japanese Grand Prix, where he suffered fuel conservation issues. The Yamaha rider finished in a disappointing twelfth position, unable to improve his start, and was the highest-placed of his team.

The Frenchman remarked that, starting from the seventh lap, he had to adapt his driving to control consumption, which limited his performance on the track. ‘It was difficult because from the seventh lap I had a problem with the fuel. I could have been much faster, but I had to take care of the throttle a lot,’ Quartararo assured.

During the race, he clarified that he had the throttle at just 70% at several strategic points on the circuit, which hindered his competitiveness. ‘From turn 2 to turn 3, and on the straights, I was constantly at 70% throttle,’ he added.

In addition to the consumption problems, Quartararo pointed out that Yamaha still struggles with its top speed, which is the lowest in the pack. The Yamaha riders occupied the last four places during the race, reflecting their lack of power.

‘We lack power and, unfortunately, the consumption is high,’ he acknowledged. This experience has heightened his impatience for next season, where he will ride a Honda. ‘It’s never easy to know if I will finish the race, as I have to constantly monitor the fuel indicators,’ Quartararo concluded.
