George Russell, driver for Mercedes, has revealed that the problem affecting his recent performance in Formula 1 is not due to his driving style, but to incorrect calibration of the vehicle’s software. The Briton has expressed relief after analyzing the data from the Belgian Grand Prix, where he had a challenging weekend.
During the qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps, Russell finished half a second behind his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, and also suffered an incident with Lewis Hamilton, which caused him to go off track. In reviewing the different circumstances surrounding his performance, the British driver identified two causes related to his work around battery load.
Russell explained that in previous sessions, he had tried to adjust his driving style with the aim of matching Antonelli. However, the data obtained during the race at Spa showed that the problem lay in the software calibration and not in the driving techniques.
