Oscar Piastri has raised good amount after putting up his F1 race-worn helmet from 2024 Bahrain GP, as Nico Hulkenberg puts his 2025 Mexico GP helmet up for grabs.
The race-used helmet worn by Oscar Piastri at the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix has sold for an enormous A$107,000 (£52,000 GBP) at auction, with all proceeds being donated to a worthy cause, close to the F1 driver’s heart. My Room Children’s Cancer Charity is a volunteer-led Australian organisation supporting families impacted by cancer. Piastri was announced as an ambassador for the charity earlier this year and donated this helmet via F1 Authentics auction platform to help raise vital funds.
This signed race-used helmet is one of only a handful that Piastri has chosen to make available to the public from his career so far, which made the auction lot highly sought after for motorsport collectors and fans. Worn by the Australian McLaren F1 Team driver at the opener for the 2024 season, this helmet saw the beginning of an incredible year for the Piastri. Later in the calendar, he went on to claim his maiden victory in F1, igniting the start of what would quickly become a Championship title race campaign in 2025.
The lucky winning bidder has now secured a true collector’s piece from one of the sport’s most talented and competitive drivers of the modern era, whilst also knowing they have donated to a wonderful cause. On the successful sale of his helmet and funds raised, Oscar Piastri said:
“Thank you very much to everyone who has bid on and supported the auction for my 2024 Bahrain race helmet with F1 Authentics. We’ve raised a huge amount of money for My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, which is a great cause. This is really going to make a difference to their projects and help everyone, so thank you once again.”
My Room Children’s Cancer Charity will see the full amount raised by the auction lot hosted by F1 Authentics go towards its research and help bring hope to young patients and their loved ones. Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room commented:
“We are incredibly grateful to Oscar for donating such a remarkable piece of F1 history, and to F1 Authentics for their work behind the scenes in making this auction possible. The outstanding amount raised from the sale of the helmet will directly support the children and families My Room stands beside every day as they face the unimaginable. This result will make a meaningful and lasting difference, bringing hope where it’s needed most. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who took part in this auction and contributed to this exceptional outcome.”
Barry Gough, Founder and CEO of Memento Exclusives (F1 Authentics) added: “We are proud to have worked with Oscar Piastri to help raise these funds for My Room Children’s Cancer Charity. A worn and signed helmet is an extremely rare piece for collectors and this coming from the current Championship leader, makes it even more special. We are delighted to have been able to host this auction and play a role in supporting this fantastic cause.”
Nico Hulkenberg –
F1 driver, Nico Hulkenberg, is auctioning the special edition helmet that he wore for the Mexico City Grand Prix on 26th October 2025. This uniquely designed helmet will be available to the public to bid on via F1 Authentics’ online auction, with previews already live for fans to see. Hulkenberg has had an incredible career in F1 so far, with 2025 proving to be one of his most memorable seasons. Securing his first ever, and much-anticipated, podium at the British Grand Prix, he solidified himself as one of the most resilient and experienced drivers on the grid.
This helmet boasts a unique design, chosen for the Mexico City race. Featuring, the Piedra del Sol, Aztec Stone of the Sun, the design has been artistically applied incorporating gold leaf, making this a rare and truly one-of-a-kind piece for a lucky collector to own. Those who watched the race, either at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez or around the world, will have seen this very helmet in action.
Race used helmets are extremely hard to come by, with many drivers opting to keep them, especially one-off editions. However, Nico has chosen to give this design up in aid of raising important funds for the charity close to his heart. All proceeds of the auction lot will be donated to Hulkenberg’s chosen cause, the Hahnair Foundation, a charity that supports women and children living in poverty. The charity helps those in need find a way out of poverty and lead a healthy and self-determined life.
On donating his race helmet, Nico Hulkenberg said: “I am delighted to be working with the Hahnair Foundation on this project. The foundation has been committed to improving the development of health facilities and social institutions all around the world. This is a great and important initiative, which I am happy to support by donating my race worn helmet on Sunday after the race to Nico Gormsen and his team.”
Nico Gormsen, Co-Founder of Hahnair said: “This is an exciting moment for the Hahnair Foundation. We are proud to see this collaboration come to fruition. Nico Hulkenberg is providing a powerful asset, and we are ready to maximize its impact. This tangible piece of F1 history will immediately translate into concrete support, funding essential health facilities, building nurseries and establishing social institutions for those most in need. We are grateful to Nico for recognizing the crucial work the Hahnair Foundation does, and we look forward to achieving this goal together.”
Bidding for this special helmet is going live in a few weeks, on 18th November at f1authentics.com. Barry Gough, Founder & CEO of Memento Exclusives, commented: “We are pleased to be working with Nico Hulkenberg on the auction of this one-off helmet for charity. Hulkenberg has had a season to remember and continues to be a favourite amongst F1 fans too. With this in mind, we expect this helmet to drive a lot of interest and hope that our auction will be able to raise significant funds to go towards the great work of the Hahnair Foundation.”
