The Formula 3 driver, Pedro Clerot, will debut in the Formula Regional Oceania Trophy with the team Rodin Motorsport in 2027. Clerot will join his F3 teammate, Reza Seewooruthun, who has competed this year in the FRegional Europe championship, as well as the New Zealander Toby McCormack.

Although he has not yet tested the Gen2 car that will be introduced in the FROT in 2027, Clerot has two years of experience in Formula Regional in Europe, where he achieved two victories in 2025 and finished fourth in the FREC standings.

The young Brazilian driver, 19 years old, has expressed his excitement for this new challenge. According to him, “with the new car, the championship will be a very interesting challenge, and I am very happy to continue my preparation for my second season in the FIA F3. The goal is to fight for the championship and be at the front.”

Clerot has highlighted the importance of track time, as well as an intense schedule of tests and competitions that will prepare him for his season in F3. “I am very excited to travel to New Zealand and be part of the team in their first season in the FROT,” he added.

Unlike Clerot, Seewooruthun has completed a full season with the Tatuus T-326 chassis, which is the basis of the GRF-70 model used in the FROT. This year he finished 16th in the FREC and will also compete with Rodin in the FIA FR World Cup in Macau before heading to New Zealand.

The British driver has shared his satisfaction for this new stage with a team he trusts. “We have created something special together this year and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve,” Seewooruthun said.

Rodin will also feature the participation of Toby McCormack, a local driver who has won three national titles in former vehicles of the Toyota Racing Series and has excelled in Formula Ford in New Zealand. McCormack seeks to win the Trans-Tasman Cup, an exclusive tournament for Australian and New Zealand drivers, which offers a guaranteed spot in the Macau Grand Prix at the end of 2027.

Rodin Motorsport’s Sporting Director, Benn Huntingford, emphasized that “the FROT has a long history of attracting promising young talents, and with Rodin’s roots in New Zealand, this project is a natural fit for us. We are ready for the challenge.”

So far, two of the five teams have confirmed their line-ups. Arjen Kraling, who finished 20th in the Italian Formula 4 with a podium in Vallelunga, will compete with TJ Speed Motorsports, while Aidan Schuh, a developer for AJ Foyt Racing, will join Kiwi Motorsport. Schuh has been competing this season in the Formula Regional Championship of America with Crosslink Motorsports.

The organizers of the championship have confirmed a full grid of 22 cars, with each of the six teams presenting three vehicles, plus four additional entries reserved only for Kiwi drivers. Additionally, the possibility of a wildcard entry for the final round, the 71st New Zealand Grand Prix, remains open amidst rumors about the participation of renowned drivers.

The manager of Tozota GAZOO Racing NZ, Nicolas Caillol, has expressed his satisfaction at seeing drivers and teams from around the world recognize New Zealand as an essential part of their journey to the highest levels of motorsport. “Our focus remains on creating an environment that challenges young drivers, accelerates their development, and prepares them for success at a global level.”
