The return of King Loeb had his first dream stages, where the fans began to see, a possible victory of one of the greatest of the WRC history. Things of fate, his former partner between 2006 and 2010 in Citröen, in its golden age, Dani Sordo, stood up to him and fought for the lead. The Ogier vs. Loeb that many had engaged was being replaced by a Loeb vs. Sordo.
The first day of the Rally of Mexico finished with Dani Sordo as leader of the general, 7.9 seconds ahead of Sebatien Loeb. The French took advantage of improved conditions on the tracks to cut time to the Spanish Hyundai driver. Behind, Ott Tänak was 11 seconds and a little more off, Kris Meeke and Ogier, 25 and 30 seconds respectively.
Second day for the first two drivers of the Rally classification did not start badly. Loeb returned to taste the honeys of the leadership, although Sordo quickly returned to take the lead. What was being a one-on-one fight, ended with the two drivers nearly out. Saturday’s race ended with the hopes of seeing the nine-time WRC world champion, Sebastien Loeb, return to what has always been his home, with a victory. As good partners they were, both suffered from the same damage. A puncture caused by a stone in the road ruined the advantages they had respect to their rivals, being Loeb the worst stopped.
The Frenchman lost two and a half minutes when he had to change his wheel and made him fall from second to fifth place and Sordo, on the other hand, took advantage of his wheel enduring as much as he could, to enter the end of the stage without tire, but only losing 30 seconds regarding the leaders.
A sublime Ogier with four consecutive scratchs raised him to a solitary lead. Demonstrating to the king that he left his competition in good hands. Second is Kris Meeke at 35,9 seconds behind the leader and Dani Sordo is still in podium positions, 46 seconds behind the leader. Ogier has it very good, to win the Rally of Mexico.
