Lando Norris has taken his third victory of the season in the FIA ??Formula 3 European championship in Norisring (Germany). Carlin driver has carried out a great comeback to finish ahead of Jake Hughes and Maximilian Günther.
Pole sitter Ralf Aron (Hitech GP) held the top spot in the first corner followed by teammate Jake Hughes and championship leader Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam). The German, soon would be pressed by Lando Norris (Carlin) but in the second lap He was passed by Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing).
Norris would try to overtake the Brazilian in a very aggressive but successful way, thus helping his teammate, Jehan Daruvala to overtake Piquet as well for the fifth position.
This maneuver would be the start of the comeback by the McLaren junior driver. First, He took advantage of a mistake by Günther to move up to third position. A few laps later, Norris passed without too many complications Jake Hughes for second position. But it would cost more to catch and beat the race leader, Ralf Aron.
Nevertheless the driver from BRDC Super Star program, managed to overtake the Estonian who would lose positions, descending until the fifth position with the front wing damaged.
The points zone was completed by Pedro Piquet, Harrison Newey (Van Amersfoort Racing), Guanyu Zhou (Prema Powerteam), Callum Ilott (Prema Powerteam) and Joel Eriksson (Motopark).
In the drivers’ championship, Günther escapes even more from Eriksson while Norris catches the Swedish. Günther leads with 22 points margin on the Motopark driver, while Norris is 35 points behind the German.
