Lando Norris will stay on with McLaren for three more years beyond 2022 after signing a new long-term F1 contract with the British outfit.
Having already signed a deal to remain at McLaren in 2022, Norris has put up a new long-term contract with the British F1 outfit which will see him with the team until the 2025 season which will make it seven years for him in the same team.
Norris got a reserve chance in 2018 after which he was promoted to a full-time seat in 2019. In the three years, he has secured five podiums as he pushes on for his first win. This new four-year deal – including 2022 – is start of a world title quest journey.
“Teams are about people, and I love the people and feel at home at McLaren,” said Norris, who join the likes of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon in having a longish contract with their existing F1 team with McLaren having a set line-up at least until 2023.
“I have grown up in this team and I鈥檓 part of this journey we鈥檙e all on. Last season was another great step, both in my career and the team鈥檚 performance, and I see and feel all the work, investment, and commitment for the team to be in a position to challenge for wins and titles in the future.
“This all gives me huge confidence looking forward, so it was a natural decision to extend our relationship for the next few years.” At the same time, team boss Andreas Seidl, added: “The opportunity to extend our relationship with Lando Norris reflect not only our commitment but our belief and confidence in his talent.
“It is also a strong sign of trust and commitment from Lando in us as a team and our journey to world championship contention. Lando has shown impressive growth as a Formula 1 driver over the past four years and has been an instrumental part of the team鈥檚 momentum and performance trajectory.
“We are still on our journey to fight at the front and Lando is a key element of our plan, so to lock him into place, alongside Daniel and our senior leadership, gives us stability and continuity as we build towards our ultimate shared goal of world championships.”
