Joel Eriksson has taken win in the first race in Hockenheim after taking the lead on the first lap and keeping it. In second place has finished Norris, who was close to win and has become the new series champion. Habsburg finished third.
Race got underway and Callum Ilott did a magnificent start to keep his Pole place. Joel Eriksson also started really well and took second position from Lando Norris. The Swedish driver went further and took the lead before the first lap ended. Norris attacked Ilott and the made contact. Ferdinand Habsburg moved up to second thanks to that, with Norris third and Ilott fourth.
The race kept going with no major changes on top positions until Norris, with 21 minutes to go, overtook Habsburg for second place. Behind, Maximilian Günther had managed to only improve to 10th place.
On the last 10 minuts, many drivers ran wide on the last and the first turn, such as Norris or Günther, but it was Ilott who had the most important incident, as he went into the gravel trap and, when returned to the track, had Jehan Daruvala inmediately behind.
On the last lap, Norris was very close to Eriksson, but it wasn’t enough to attack him and the Motopark driver took his seventh win of the season and the third in a row. Norris finishes second with Habsburg, who gets on the podium for the fourth time this year, has finished third. Ilott, Daruvala, Nikita Mazepin, Pedro Piquet, Ralf Aron, Tadasuke Makino and Günther scored points.
These results leave Norris as the new F3 European champion, the British driver, linked to McLaren, was won 9 races and got 20 podium finishes and gets crowned on his debut season with to races still to go.
The new champion has 429 but, behind him, Eriksson has passed Günther for second place. The Swedish driver has 358 points, and the German has 340. Ilott is in fourth place with 309 and could still finish as runner-up. The next race, the penultimate of the season, will start later today, at 17:15 local time.
