Roy Nissany has got three FP1 sessions and one rookie test day outing with ROKiT Williams Racing in 2020 F1 season after being named as its ‘Official Test Driver’.

Having made his debut for Williams in Abu Dhabi test at Yas Marina circuit in 2019, Nissany has now become the team’s ‘Official Test Driver’ for the 2020 F1 season, where he is to drive the FW43 in three FP1 sessions and one rookie test day as well.

The grand prix where he is to drive remains to be known, while the rookie test day should be the post-season running in Abu Dhabi. He will also be fully immersed with the team for three races and will undertake simulator sessions at the factory in Grove.

In the weekend Nissany will drive, the car will feature the ‘Israel Start-Up’ logo. Along with F1, the Israeli is also to return to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, which Williams confirmed. The team he will drive for is not known yet.

“I am thrilled to become Official Test Driver for ROKiT Williams Racing,” said Nissany. “This is also a landmark for motorsport in Israel. When I tested for the team in Abu Dhabi in December, I instantly felt comfortable in the car and part of the team.

“The experience that I will gain this year, immersing myself with Williams will prove invaluable and I’m looking forward to getting started, both on and off the track.” At the same time, Deputy Team Principle Claire Williams, stated:

“It is a pleasure to welcome Roy Nissany to ROKiT Williams Racing in the role of our Official Test Driver. Roy demonstrated his capabilities driving in the post-season Abu Dhabi test last year and we were extremely impressed with what he could do in a short space of time. He is a hard-working individual who we are excited to be working with this year.”

Nissany joins the ever-growing junior line-up of Williams, where they already have F2 racer Daniel Ticktum and also W Series racer Jamie Chadwick. The trio will help regulars George Russell and Nicholas Latifi, to form quite a young line-up.
