Again Joseff Newgarden (CFH Racing) led the second free at the Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin, in the United States. This time the US marked a faster than that of the first session record, leaving three tenths Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) and Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing).
Placid day at the Milwaukee Mile oval track, where this weekend the ABC Supply 250 Wisconsin at Milwaukee IndyFest held. During the second free practice, the Chevrolet Joseff Newgarden (CFH Racing) turned to bring the best lap of the session, as did a few hours ago in the first round. This time, the US lowered its chrono further and left behind him Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) just three tenths.
Brazilian Penske was the one who took control of the session during the first half, until a yellow flag for track inspection interrupted the development of the drivers in the asphalt of Wisconsin. At that moment Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Enterprises) and Tony Kanaan (NTT Data Chip Ganassi Racing) completed the Top 3, in a very intense first fifteen minutes, in which some pilots to forty laps completed.
Green flag again twenty minutes remained to the end of the session. With five, Newgarden did a great lap of 21.411s which gave the first position, which would keep to the end. Castroneves remained three tenths of CFH Time Racing, while Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) climbed to third place, eight tenths off the best time. The Top 5 was completed by Charlie Kimball (Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing) and Takuma Sato, around the second away.
The Top 10 has been fairly even between the two marks, six pilots and four of Honda Chevrolet. The first ten positions have finished forming the James Jakes (Peterson Schmidt Motorsports), Tony Kanaan, Will Power (Team Penske), Sebastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) and Gabby Chaves (Bryan Herta Autosport With Curb-Agajanian). Highlight the modest performance of championship leader, Juan Pablo Montoya, who has not moved from 13th place almost four seconds off the pace.
The final qualyfing will form the starting grid will be held at 19:30h (CET).
