The New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) will once again host a race in the NASCAR Cup on the weekend of September 25-26, 2027, and it will do so as part of the playoff competition of the championship. The track will also host the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series during that same event.
David McGrath, Executive Vice President and General Manager of NHMS, expressed excitement about returning to September and the championship’s decisive phase. ‘Last year, fans of racing from New England filled the facilities. Fall competition is a big draw for fans, especially for our campers, and drivers also enjoy coming here at this time of year,’ he stated.
NHMS joined the Cup calendar in 1993, and for two decades it hosted two races per season. The track, known as ‘The Magic Mile’, was part of the Chase year after year from 2004 to 2017; however, since then, the dates have varied. The race has shifted to a summer event, taking place in July, August, and even June. Last year it briefly returned to the playoff phase, but in 2026 it was moved back to a summer date.
Thus, NHMS will reclaim its traditional scheduled date for September 2027, where it will be the third race of a total of ten in the Chase for the Cup Series championship. Additionally, it will mark the start of the playoff phase for the Truck Series.
The full schedule for the NASCAR Cup in 2027 is expected to be announced soon, as NHMS is part of a group of tracks that will make announcements regarding the new season.
