The New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) has confirmed that the competition weekend of September 25 and 26, 2027, will host both the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This decision marks the return of the circuit to the NASCAR playoff rounds.
David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of NHMS, expressed his satisfaction in regaining the September date, highlighting that last year fans responded with full attendance. ‘Fall competition in New England is a big draw for fans, and drivers also enjoy racing here at this time of year,’ McGrath commented.
Since its first inclusion in the NASCAR Cup calendar in 1993, NHMS has been a key venue for racing in New England. The circuit hosted two Cup races for two decades and became a benchmark for the playoffs between 2004 and 2017.
Since then, NHMS has alternated its competition date between the months of June, July, and August. Last year it briefly returned to the playoffs, but it has been moved to a summer date for 2026. With the reassignment for 2027, the circuit will regain its traditional spot at the start of the playoff, being the third race of the ten that make up the Chase for the title.
