Jorge Martin held off Francesco Bagnaia to win MotoGP race in German GP by 0.064s, with Johann Zarco in third.

As seen in the sprint race, KTM’s Jack Miller took the MotoGP lead in German GP at the start but a moment during the lap allowed pole-sitter Francesco Bagnaia to retake the lead on his Ducati with the Australian dropping to fourth in a space of few corners.

Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin too jumped to second clearing VR46 Ducati’s Luca Marini. Miller was fourth from KTM teammate Brad Binder, while VR46’s Marco Bezzecchi was sixth from Pramac’s Johann Zarco and Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro.

The Top 10 was rounded out by Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, with Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales just behind. The fight at the front saw Martin clear Bagnaia once again to take the lead in the main MotoGP race.

Behind, Miller came under pressure from Binder as Espargaro climbed up to sixth to push the South African. He got through him but lost it soon while fending off Zarco who cleared Bezzecchi. The Italian was passed by Marquez at one point but got back on him.

Binder got through teammate Miller for fourth which dropped the Australian to seventh after losing to Zarco and Bezzecchi – both of whom cleared Espargaro just a lap before. Marquez was ninth from Quartararo who had Ducati’s Enea Bastianini on his tail.

Miller got back on Bezzecchi but the Italian came back on him for sixth, as Vinales retired due to suspected issue. While one KTM lost a place, teammate Binder made a move on Marini for third. The Italian stayed on his tail but Zarco caught him fast.

Before Marini could make a move on Binder, Zarco cleared him for fourth. Bezzecchi was sixth from Miller, Espargaro, Marquez and Bastianini in the Top 10. Gresini’s Fabio di Giannantonio was up to 11th from Quartararo.

RNF Aprilia’s Miguel Oliveira was 13th from GASGAS Tech 3’s Agusto Fernandez and Yamaha’s Franco Morbidelli in the Top 15 points places. At the front, Martin started to come under pressure from Bagnaia, with Binder under the same pressure from Zarco.

But the South African had a tyre trouble to suffer a huge crash, allowing Zarco to be third from Bezzecchi who cleared teammate Marini for track position. Miller was sixth from Marquez as Bastianini cleared Espargaro for eighth.

Di Giannantonio moved up to 10th from Oliveira who cleared Quartararo. It was eight Ducati bikes in the Top 10, as Bagnaia finally made the move on Martin to retake the MotoGP lead in German GP. Zarco, meanwhile, was slowly catching them.

Martin stayed on Bagnaia’s tail and eventually got through him to retake the MotoGP lead in German GP. The two were fiery in the latter stages with the Italian hot on the tail of the Spaniard. They even touched on the penultimate which somewhat settled it.

Bagnaia went for it on the finish line but Martin took the MotoGP win in German GP by 0.064s, as Zarco was third from Bezzecchi and Marini in a Ducati 1-2-3-4-5. Miller broke the chain in sixth from Marquez and Bastianini.

Di Giannantonio was ninth from Oliveira and Fernandez, as Morbidelli cleared Quartararo on the final lap for 12th with Nakagami in 14th from RNF’s Raul Fernandez, as Espargaro dropped from eighth to outside of points in in 16th.

Tech 3’s Jonas Folger was 17th to round out the runners with Honda having just the sole bike on the grid of Nakagami after Marc Marquez withdrew due to his fifth crash in Warm-Up. DNF: Binder, Vinales.
