Charles Leclerc maintained top spot in FP3 of F1 Monaco GP as Max Verstappen closed in on him in P2, with Lewis Hamilton in third.

It was a hectic FP3 in F1 Monaco GP as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc maintained his top spot with a 1m11.369s lap where Red Bull’s Max Verstappen (1m11.566s) was only 0.197s behind in an improved show but not yet still where their rivals are.

Verstappen had his moments in the session, as did Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton (1m11.710s) who went off at Turn 1. He also had to stop in the final corner for marshals to take away the stranded Stake F1 Team’s car of Valtteri Bottas, which brought out the red flag.

He clipped the wall to break his suspension and end his session early. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was fourth from Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who put in a late lap to improve but continued to complain about the car being nowhere near the pace he wanted.

Piastri had a Turn 1 moment too to bring out the yellow flag like Hamilton. Mercedes’ George Russell was sixth but is under investigation for an incident involving McLaren’s Lando Norris at the exit of the tunnel.

Even Verstappen is under investigation for driving unnecessarily slowly after he was caught in traffic in the final corner. While one Ferrari was on top, Carlos Sainz found pace but couldn’t do much as such to be seventh from Norris.

Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso rounded out the Top 10, with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly doing well in 11th from Williams’ Alexander Albon, Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg & Kevin Magnussen and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll in Top 15.

Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was behind his teammate in 16th with Williams’ Logan Sargeant ended up 17th, Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo 18th and Stake F1 Team’s Zhou Guanyu 19th.
