Netflix has confirmed that its new Formula 1 documentary, which focuses on the first winning season of driver Michael Schumacher’s car, will be released globally on October 2, 2026.
Under the title Schumacher ’94 – The Birth of a Legend, this feature film will follow Schumacher’s journey during a key season that saw him become world champion at the age of 25. The film was initially previewed this year during a Netflix presentation in Germany, adding to the growing motorsport catalog on the platform, including the popular series Drive to Survive.
The documentary, which will be presented in German, will focus on Schumacher’s transformation from an unknown driver to an iconic figure in Formula 1. It is also expected to address the tragic race weekend at Imola in 1994, which cost the lives of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger.
Directed by Christin Freitag and produced by LEONINE Documentaries, the film will include testimonies from his wife, Corinna Schumacher, and others close to the Ferrari driver.
