Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has re-signed with Honda Racing Corporation for four more seasons until 2024.

Marquez has raced with Honda ever since he made his premier class debut in 2013 and together they have won six titles in seven seasons. At the same time, his rivals have switched around between Yamaha, Ducati and even as Spaniard’s teammate.

The partnership between Marquez and Honda has been a strong one indeed as his younger brother and 2019 Moto2 champion, Alex, was signed by the Japanese manufacturer for his MotoGP debut in 2020 after Jorge Lorenzo’s departure.

The new deal will see Marquez stay on with Honda for four more seasons in MotoGP until 2024. The news comes after Yamaha signed Maverick Vinales and Fabio Quartararo for two years from 2021 until 2022 as their premier class riders.

“I am very proud to announce my renewal with Honda Racing Corporation for the next four years,” said Marquez. “Honda gave me the opportunity to arrive in the MotoGP class with a factory bike in 2013.

“Since the first year we have achieved success together and I am very happy to continue being part of the Honda family. HRC gives me the confidence to extend this partnership to obtain our common goal and continue our story of success.”

At the same time, HRC President Yoshishige Nomura added: “We are happy to announce that, after the end of the current season, Marc Marquez will stay in the Honda family for four more years. We started talking a few months ago as both parties wanted to stay together and continue winning.

“Marc started his career in the premier class in 2013 and with him we have won six of the last seven MotoGP titles. As a unique champion, he deserves a unique deal. I am very confident in this partnership and I wish everyone involved continued success.”
