Marc Marquez, the Catalan rider and current MotoGP champion, has shared positive news about his recovery following a double operation on his shoulder and right foot that took place on May 10. The rookie Ducati rider is preparing to return to competition this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix, although he admits he is proceeding with caution.
After his injuries at Le Mans, Marquez missed the races in France and Catalonia. Now, after a recovery period of approximately two weeks, he has passed the medical review with his doctors in Madrid and is already in Italy, where he will participate in Ducati events as part of the celebration of its centenary.
Marquez communicated that “the recovery is progressing as expected” through a statement from his team. He assures that he has returned to training normally and will focus mainly on testing his sensations and physical condition on his Desmosedici GP.
Through social media, the rider posted videos lifting weights with his right arm, but at no point was he seen riding any motorcycle. It seems that the pain in the radial nerve of his shoulder only occurs at specific moments, mainly when he is riding his racing bike.
The operations carried out have been a success, but Marquez has emphasized the importance of continuing with caution and performing the final medical reviews at the circuit. Today, he is scheduled to meet with the medical director of the championship, Angel Charte, before competing in Mugello, a circuit known for its demanding nature.
Despite the challenging aspects of Mugello, Marquez remains optimistic, highlighting that the support of Ducati fans will be an extra motivator for a standout performance. “Mugello is an amazing circuit, and the truth is it is also very demanding, but the support of all Ducati fans will be an additional motivation to do well,” he concluded.
