Giuliano Alesi took his maiden win in GP3 ahead of Jack Aitken and Niko Kari.
Dorian Boccolacci (Trident), penalized after the first race, should have started from reverse grid pole, but he did not make it out of the pits and had to retire before the start, promoting Giuliano Alesi (Trident) on pole.
Jack Aitken (ART GP) took the better start and was 2nd after the first corner. George Russell (ART GP) passed Alessio Lorandi (Jenzer) and Anthoine Hubert (ART GP) on the first lap.
On the 4th lap, a collision between Julien Falchero (Campos Racing) and Steijn Schothorst (Arden) got the safety car to come out on track. After three laps, the race got underway again with Alesi keeping the momentum on Aitken, under Niko Kari’s pressure.
Arjun Maini (Jenzer) was leading a train until the use of the DRS when Russell passed his former rival in BRDC F4. While Hubert tried to pass the Indian, Lorandi made contact with the Frenchman who lost two places. Nirei Fukuzumi (ART GP), who was going through a difficult come back, had his hopes spoiled by a 10-second penalty for overtaking under safety car.
In the last laps, the battle for the lead took another dimension with Alesi, Aitken, Kari and Russell all within DRS range but the positions did not change eventually.
Giuliano Alesi took his maiden win in GP3 Series ahead of Jack Aitken and Niko Kari who climbed on the podium for the first time. Russel, Maini, Lorandi, Jörg and Hubert completed the points scoring positions.
