Christian Lundgaard, driver for Arrow McLaren, is preparing to face an important challenge at the Grand Prix of Portland, after encountering serious electrical problems during qualifying.
After two victories this season, Lundgaard is in fourth place in the championship standings. However, the technical difficulties experienced have left his vehicle, the #7 Chevrolet, with very low power, hindering his ability to compete against rivals.
The setbacks began midway through the qualifying session. Lundgaard entered the pits to change tires, at which point the electronic issues began, with his dashboard freezing and, subsequently, a failure in the hybrid system.
“I feel quite disappointed with today’s result, as it seemed we had improved our pace since the last race,” Lundgaard commented. “After the pit stop, my hybrid didn’t work, which limited me a lot in the speed on track.”
The Danish driver acknowledges that the task will be complicated, especially on a circuit like Portland, which features a narrow and tricky layout. Despite the disadvantage, Lundgaard is determined to face the challenge with courage.
“It will be a start from the back, which can be difficult on this circuit, but we are ready for the challenge,” Lundgaard added, while reflecting on his previous victory in this same championship at Road America.
