Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is the latest F1 driver to be down with COVID-19 after a contact of him caught the virus.
Days after McLaren confirmed a COVID-19 positive result for Norris, his friend Leclerc is the latest to have caught the virus. He got it from a close contact, who tested positive. The Monegasque immediately self-isolated after getting the news of his positive test.
He then underwent a test himself, which returned positive on Wednesday. He has mild symptoms and is isolating as per health protocols of Monaco. Recently, he visited Dubai on a holiday but it seems like, he has since returned to his home.
Leclerc joins the other list of F1 drivers like Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll, to have tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, for the Monegasque, it is during the off season, where he has plenty of time to recover from the virus.
With the 2021 F1 season start deferred by a week along with pre-season testing, Leclerc has plenty of time to even shake-off any post-COVID-19 weaknesses. Here’s the message from him:
Ferrari, meanwhile, added: “Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow driver Charles Leclerc has tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with the team’s protocols, Charles is tested regularly and yesterday, the result from his latest test came back positive. Charles notified us immediately and has informed everyone he has been in close contact with in the last few days. He is currently feeling ok with mild symptoms and is now self-isolating at home in Monaco.”
