DAMS confirms the arrival of Oliver Rowland and Nicholas Latifi’s re-signing within the team for the 2017 GP2 Series season.

In 2016, Nicholas Latifi went through a bitter-sweet season, just like the team in general. With one sole podium and fourth points-awarding positions, Latifi was completely dominated by Alex Lynn and his three victories last year. Latifi comes back with higher goals for his second season in GP2. He comments:

“I’m really happy to be in this team for the second season in a row, because I already have an established working relationship with everybody. That will help me a lot, especially as you don’t get a lot of track time in GP2 and you’re always having to adapt to the conditions.”

Alongside him, Latifi will find another Renault driver in the name of Oliver Rowland. After his Formula Renault 3.5 title, Rowland committed himself in GP2 Series with MP Motorsport and gave them their best season in the series. He comments:

“The overall aim is to go and dominate the championship, that’s my personal target and is shared by the team. DAMS have won championships in previous years with Valsecchi, Grosjean and Palmer, so I’m coming to an outfit with a lot of pedigree and I’ll have to make sure I’m at the top of my game. Last year was my first year and with the tyres it was sometimes difficult, but there were lots of positives and I had some good results.”

Jean-Paul Driot, DAMS’ team principal, assures that this season will allow the French team to get back to the top and fight for the championship:

“Our ambition is absolutely to fight for the Teams’ and Drivers’ titles.”

With two drivers from the Renault programme, DAMS appears as a Renault young drivers team in GP2 like ART GP with McLaren/Honda, or like Prema Powerteam with Ferrari. Both drivers will battle against another teammate from Renault, Louis Delétraz, who will race with Racing Engineering.
