Jorge Martín, rider of the Aprilia Racing Team, has shared that a victory in the Sprint of the Indonesian Grand Prix could have been possible despite a tire pressure problem. In this race, Martín dominated for much of the competition, but a series of technical incidents and a final mistake caused him to fall off the podium.

Starting from fifth position, Martín benefited from a chaotic start where several riders, including Marc Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio, were involved in an accident at the first corner. Thanks to a clever maneuver, Martín managed to take the lead with over 1.5 seconds advantage over Márquez. However, with five laps to go, he received a warning about the low pressure of his front tire, forcing him to let Márquez pass to avoid a penalty.

Martín, intending to attack again, tried to regain the lead on the final lap. However, after restoring the pressure to an adequate level, he made a mistake and lost positions, finishing fourth as he crossed the finish line. This result cost him the championship lead, which is now in Márquez’s hands.

“It’s a shame to lose an opportunity like that due to the tires,” Martín lamented. “I had the situation under control and wanted to attack on the last lap, but my strategy complicated when I had to let Marc pass. In the end, I felt good with the bike and believed the victory was within reach, until everything vanished.”

Looking ahead to the next race, Martín acknowledged that his teammates, Raul Fernández and Marco Bezzecchi, had been competitively faster, but he believes he still has chances to fight for the podium. “I am convinced that I can improve and challenge again for the podium,” he concluded.
