StarCom Racing team, which are expected to make their NASCAR Sprint Cup full-time debut this year, have announced that Jeffrey Earnhardt will be driving their nº. 00 Chevrolet on the upcoming season.

StarCom Racing, a team which made its NASCAR Sprint Cup debut in the latest stages of the 2017, participating in Kansas and Phoenix, is to make its full-time debut in 2018. And they have chosen Jeffrey Earnhardt, nephew of Dale Jr. and grandson of Dale Sr., as the driver for their nº. 00 Chevy car.

This signing means that there is going to be an Earnhardt on Cup Series grid for the 40th consecutive year. However, Jeffrey‘s performance has been so far much weaker than his relatives’. With three seasons raced (being 2017 the first he raced full-time), his best result are some 26th places.

He arrives to the team thanks to the support of VRX Simulators, a Canada-based company that develops simulation software for driving, piloting, etc. It would the first presence of this company, which gives the nº. 00 car that blue and white livery, on the series.

“I am so appreciative of everyone at StarCom Racing and VRX for having confidence in me and making this a reality,” said Earnhardt. “There’s been an Earnhardt driving in the 500 for 39 years so to be able to keep that streak going for a 40th year means a lot to me and I’m sure a lot of Earnhardt fans are going to be happy to hear this news.”

“I knew Derrike casually before but I didn’t realize how much he knows about race cars. He’s got a tremendous amount of technical expertise and speaking with him gave me confidence that StarCom has big plans and I want to be part of that progression,” added Earnhardt.

NASCAR Cup Series 2018 season will start the 18th of February with the 60th edition of the Daytona 500, a race on which SCR has never raced and Earnhardt finished 26th last year, driving for The Motorsports Group.
