Carlos Sainz was fastest in FP2 of F1 Italian GP after a late run from Lando Norris, with Sergio Perez rounding out the Top 3.

The FP2 session in F1 Italian GP at Monza started with an early red flag stoppage for Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll due to a fuel system problem. They tried to get it going but it wasn’t to be with the Canadian no laps in after missing FP1 session to Felipe Drugovich.

The end of the session also saw a red flag stoppage when Red Bull’s Sergio Perez went off at Parabolica. He ran out of the road and roughed through the gravel to beach himself after hitting the rear in the barrier. The drivers got few minutes to run at the end.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz set the pace in F1 Italian GP with a 1m21.355s lap in the end from McLaren’s Lando Norris with Perez third from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. The Australian had an impeding moment behind Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton but it wasn’t investigated.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was only fifth after he didn’t get a clear fast lap due to traffic with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in sixth from Williams’ Alexander Albon, who set his best time on the medium tyre. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was eighth after a late start.

The Top 10 saw Mercedes’ George Russell and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg in ninth and 10th, with the other Haas o Kevin Magnussen not far behind in 11th. Alfa Romeo had a better session in FP2 with Valtteri Bottas in 12th ahead of the first of the Alpine car.

Pierre Gasly was only 13th from the first of the AlphaTauri car of Yuki Tsunoda, who had more complains against Mercedes for impeding. The other Alpine of Esteban Ocon was 15th from Williams’ Logan Sargeant and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

The two set their best time on the medium tyres as did AlphaTauri’s Liam Lawson in 18th. There was a bit of gravel moment for Hamilton but escaped without a major issue, as Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu was the last of the registered runner.
