In this tenth round of the 2026 season, Hadjar faced a 30-place grid penalty for exceeding his power unit allowance. This caused him to start from the back of the grid. Chandhok explained: “Isack communicated with the team saying he wanted to give Max the best slipstream, without micromanaging instructions from the pit box.” This decision turned out to be key for Verstappen’s qualifying, who finished third in the race.
