Inception Racing will begin its fifth consecutive season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2027 with a new model: the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. This transition marks a new chapter for the team, which has been supported by Optimum Motorsport.
The vehicle #70 will compete in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class, maintaining its lineup with Brendan Iribe, Frederik Schandorff, and Ollie Millroy. Iribe and Schandorff will be part of the full-season effort, while Millroy will join for the endurance rounds of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
This alliance unites one of the standout independent teams in the GTD class with one of the most established factory support programs in sports car racing.
The sporting director of Inception Racing, Bas Leinders, has expressed the team’s excitement about joining the Corvette family. He highlighted GM and Pratt Miller’s great history of success and the relationship they hope to build with both organizations, as well as the loyal support from Corvette fans at each IMSA event.
Corvette Racing has enthusiastically welcomed this new partnership, which expands its presence on the championship grid. Andrea Hidalgo, manager of the Corvette Racing program, commented that Inception is one of the best GTD teams and that this union will strengthen both teams and the Corvette Racing program overall for 2027.
A consolidated trio of drivers
Continuity in driving is a key element for Inception Racing. Iribe, Schandorff, and Millroy have already demonstrated their capability, with their first IMSA victory achieved in 2025 during the six-hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Recently, they secured a third place at VIRginia International Raceway during the 2026 season.
Iribe, who has stood out as one of the most promising Bronze drivers, won the Bob Akin Award in 2023, earning an automatic invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he achieved pole position in the LMGT3 category in 2024.
The growth of Inception Racing
Since its first participation in the IMSA at the Petit Le Mans in 2021, Inception Racing has evolved relentlessly, becoming a full-time competitor and making the IMSA championship a regular part of its international racing program.
Leinders has emphasized the importance of being part of this championship and his satisfaction with the continuity. As a team, they take pride in being part of the IMSA family.
