Iker Lecuona, current World Superbike rider, will take on the role of substitute for Alex Márquez at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, following the injury of the Spanish rider.

Márquez suffered a serious accident during the Catalonia Grand Prix on May 17, which prevented him from participating in the Mugello race and now also in the Balaton Park round.

Lecuona will have the opportunity to compete in MotoGP for the first time since his last race in Qatar in 2023, where he raced with the LCR Honda team in place of Alex Rins. He currently holds second position in the WorldSBK 2026 standings.

The confirmation of his inclusion in the Hungarian GP was announced on Tuesday by Gresini Racing, stating that Lecuona, with number 27, will make his second appearance in the championship after a disappointing debut with KTM in Valencia.

Besides Lecuona, Cal Crutchlow is also expected to continue with LCR Honda, substituting for Johann Zarco. This will be the second time Crutchlow races in MotoGP since 2023, following a notable return to Mugello where he finished the race with a shoulder issue.
