Huge multi-car crash stops feature F2 race at Spa-Francorchamps

The FIA Formula 2 (F2) Championship’s feature race at Spa-Francorchamps has been called-off after a huge multi-car crash.

Pole-sitter and ART Grand Prix’s Nyck de Vries started the feature F2 race at Spa-Francorchamps well in the lead from Carlin’s Louis Deletraz and Campos Racing’s Jack Aitken in the opening two laps.

DAMS’ Nicholas Latifi had a puncture but there was a huge multi-car collision behind him on Lap 3 involving Trident’s Giuliano Alesi, BWT Arden’s Anthoine Hubert, Sauber Junior Team by Charouz’s Juan Manuel Correa and new comer Campos’ Marino Sato.

The world feed did not show how the incident happened but the camera panned on Correa’s car into half and upside down on the Kemmel Straight after going through Eau Rouge, having collided with Sato as it looked like.

The feed did not show Alesi and Hubert on scene as the race was red-flagged immediately, with the drivers pulled into the pitlane. After few minutes of waiting, the F2 race was called-off.
