Nico Rosberg for the second year in a row won the home race in Monaco, regaining the lead in the standings, Hamilton finished second – the Mercedes fifth double victory this season. Third in the princely lodge stood Daniel Riccardo – another excellent performance Australian
1. Nico Rosberg (Mercedes): “Of course, today is a special day! Lewis went perfectly, very actively attacked me, but I tried to stay calm and eventually was able to win. By the end I was able to create a gap, because my tires were in better condition. I’m happy for the whole team, which this year was built for us this great car!”
2. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes): “At the 56th lap something flew under the visor and hit me in the eye. Fortunately, nothing serious, otherwise it was a good day, and I’m glad that helped the team win the double victory. Today I was fast, the car looked fine, but to overtake on this track, as everyone knows, is very, very difficult. I’m glad I spent the race without making mistakes.”
3. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull): “First, I am very pleased to finish on the podium in Monaco. Although the start of the race came out imperfect – we fell back to fifth place. But then – during the safety car – any problems Vettel and Raikkonen punctured tire. In the final race we get close to Lewis and tried to put pressure on him, but to finish above third line today was not our best.”
