Lewis Hamilton finished again in the first position during the second free practice of the Bahrein Grand Prix, which is taking part at night.
Adrian Sutil was commissioned to mark the first half of the session, although it was the Toro Rosso of Kvyat which took the lead in the table in the first moments. Minutes later, the two McLaren drivers marked the two fastest times, with Kevin Magnussen ahead of Jenson Button.
Mercedes drivers were soon doing fast laps and Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time, with nearly half a second ahead of the other drivers. Nico Rosberg made a similar time after a few laps (he made a mistake on his first lap). Fernando Alonso climbed to third place at five-tenths of the time of Hamilton.
The Red Bull came out within an hour for the end of practice and Sebastian Vettel scored the fourth fastest time being soon relegated to fifth by his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who was placed third, five tenths of Mercedes.
Drivers put the soft tyres with less than an hour remaining for the end of the session. This compound enabled an improvement in the times of two seconds from the pneumatic means . Sergio Perez set the fastest time until Rosberg improved and pushed the Force India driver away. Hamilton broke the record by three tenths mate . Alonso placed third to more than one second , just behind with Ricciardo . Vettel was sixth in his first lap on the soft. Pastor Maldonado suffered a problem that raised in the front of his Lotus, due to passing a piano, similar to what happened to Kimi Raikkonen in FP1, and severely damaged its flat bottom.
The problem of the Venezuelan was not the only one in the session. Max Chilton had a fault in one of its brake discs and suffered a spin that would not let him return to the racing line. Shortly after the Sauber of Sutil stood on the track. Marcus Ericsson also suffered problems at the end of practice.
In the last half hour, the teams set out to do with race simulations pneumatic means. Williams drivers started rolling in these last moments of the session, so they were the ones who used new compounds. Obviously, times have not improved and Hamilton finished with the fastest time, followed by Rosberg, Alonso, Massa and Ricciardo in the top five.
