Carlin has announced the renewal of Ferdinand Habsburg for the upcoming FIA F3 season. The Austrian driver will do his second season on the series with the team with which he made a good debut in 2017 and did a superb race in Macau.

Carlin team has confirmed the fourth driver they will line-up for the 2018 FIA F3 Europe season, which will be Ferdinand Habsburg, who stays at the team for a second year after a good 2017 season driving for them.

Habsburg arrived to Carlin in 2017, when he made his F3 debut. His performance was really good as he finished seventh on the final standings and took his first win in the second race of the Spa-Francochamps round. At the end of the season, Carlin chose him to be one of the team’s drivers for the Macau GP, where he did an astonishing job, fighting to the limits for the win with Sergio Sette Camara until they both crashed in the last corner. Last weekend, he participated on the Rolex 24 and finished in fifth position overall with the Jackie Chan Oreca LMP2 nº. 78 car.

Before he arrived to Carlin, he drove for three years among several Formula Renault 2.0 championships with Fortec; and raced in the EuroFormula Open with Drivex School in 2015 and 2016, when he finished second on the championship, which allowed him to step up to FIA F3.

This renewal leaves Carlin with four drivers already confirmed, as they also renewed with Jehan Daruvala and hired Sacha Fenestraz and Devlin DeFrancesco, both of whom had already did some races with the team last year. This means that, if their plan is to line-up four full-time cars, like last year, their line-up could be already complete. The team, however, has not said anything about this.

“I am pumped to announce that I am re-joining Trevor and his incredible team this year.” Said Habsburg. “I can’t wait to get back to racing with the Carlin boys that I have become very close with over the last 14 months. Feeling comfortable within a team is going to be a big strength that we will take advantage of; we’re going to hit this year’s championship hard from round one! The team has an incredible history of developing the world’s top drivers and I’m going to work hard to make sure I do them proud. Thanks to everyone who has helped make it possible.”

The 2018 FIA F3 European Championship season will start the 12th of May at the legendary Circuit of Pau.
