The FIA has revealed certain changes at Albert Park Circuit for F1 Australian GP as the DRS zones remains the same for 2020 from 2019.

Amid the gloom of COVID-19, the 2020 F1 season kicks-off at Albert Park Circuit with the Australian GP this weekend. Looking at the grand prix, the FIA has now revealed the track changes made from 2019 to this year along with the DRS zones.

There are three changes made to the circuit which includes the main start alteration where Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo famously lost his front wing in the 2019 F1 Aus GP, they are:

  • The left-hand barrier between Turns 2 and 3 has been realinged closer to the edge of the track.
  • The asphalt path located on the verge between the pit exit and track has been re-established and smoothed out.
  • Fire Extinguisher image signs in accordance with the current FIA Guidelines have been installed.

In addition to the above track changes, the DRS zones remains the same from 2019 as it states:

“There will be three DRS zones at the Australian GP. The first detection point is 170m before Turn 11, with the Zone 1 activation point coming 104m after Turn 12. The second detection point, shared by Zones 2 and 3, is 13m before Turn 14. The activation point for Zone is 30m after Turn 16, while the activation point for Zone 3 is 32m after Turn 2.”

Outside these track details, the FIA also revealed the names of the four stewards who will be monitoring the F1 Australian GP. Dr. Gerd Ennser will lead the team which includes Dennis Dean, Emanuele Pirro (Driver Rep) and Matthew Selley (National Steward).

The Drivers’ F1 press conference in Aus GP will feature Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Nicholas Latifi, while the Teams’ will have Toto Wolff, Mattia Binotto, Zak Brown and Christian Horner.
