The FIA has released details of some of the changes made at Hungaroring circuit for this weekend’s F1 Hungarian GP.
Unlike some of the changes made at Silverstone and even Hockenheim for the last two grand prix races, the Hungararing has some smaller changes to few parts of the circuit for this weekend’s F1 Hungarian GP – the last race before the August summer break.
As per the FIA’s preview note, the circuit has installed a domed kerb section which is 50mm high, about 1.5m from the track edge behind the kerb on the exit of Turn 5, along with new debris fences on the right between Turns 3-4 and Turn 7.
In addition, the guardrail has been realigned as well behind the gravel traps in Turn 4 and Turn 11. Like how it was in 2018, the Hungaroring circuit will continue to have two consecutive DRS zones for this year’s Hungarian GP as well.
It will share a detection point 5m before Turn 14, with the activation points being 40m after Turn 14 and 6m after Turn 1. Aside the track changes, the FIA also revealed the four stewards for the grand prix – none continuing on from last weekend’s German GP.
Long-time FIA steward Garry Connelly will lead the panel with Italian Motor Sport Commission member Paolo Longoni joining him with ex-F1 driver as the drivers’ representative Danny Sullivan and Hungarian national steward Lajos Herczeg.
