FIA is in process of sending Hamilton’s trophy to Mercedes

The FIA is now in possession of Lewis Hamilton’s third place trophy which was taken away in the Gala and are sending to Mercedes.

The FIA trophy gaga is close to a resolution after the governing body managed to get hold of Mercedes’ Hamilton’s third place trophy from the fan who took it away. Post the prize givingin Baku, a fan posted about getting Hamilton’s trophy from the Brit.

Mercedes clarified that Hamilton did not gift the trophy to the said person. His intention was to give it to the FIA official, who would send it to Mercedes but somehow the fan got it and took it home. He started to post on social media, while terming it as a gift.

But as stated above Mercedes denied of that, while the FIA is also with similar thoughts but neither want to state it as a theft. The said person was a local guest of Azerbaijan Automobile Federation, which made it easier to get hold of the trophy back.

With the FIA now having it in their possession, they are in process of sending it to Mercedes in Brackley. It is a usual process when a driver doesn’t want to carry the trophy with him/her, they keep it with the official who eventually sends it across.

Due to the online hate and abuse – which the FIA doesn’t advocates – the said person had to deactivate his Twitter/X account. He was not only seen posing with Hamilton’s trophy, but he clicked photos with Max Verstappen and also his drivers’ championship.
