MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor was fastest on Day 2 of Formula 2 (F2) test at Barcelona from Campos’ Ralph Boschung.
The yet-to-be full-time F2 driver, Verschoor, ended up fastest with a time of 1m28.280s, which set in the morning session, much like the majority in the field. He led Boschung (1m28.474s) and UNI-Virtuosi Racing’s Felipe Drugovich (1m28.544s).
DAMS’ Marcus Armstrong slotted in fourth ahead of another driver Bent Viscaal, who is to be confirmed for a full season drive by Trident. The other DAMS of Roy Nissany ended up sixth – despite spin in AM at Turn 3 – ahead of the leading ART of Theo Pourchaire.
The F2 test Day 1 top two, MP Motorsport’s Lirim Zendeli and ART’s Christian Lundgaard, were eighth and ninth, as the Top 10 was rounded out by Hitech GP’s Liam Lawson, where his teammate Juri Vips missed out in 11th.
Nissany’s spin wasn’t the only red flag of the day, with the afternoon session seeing three interruptions. Two was for HWA Racelab’s Alessio Deledda, who spun at Turn 12 first and then Turn 1, whereas the third was for Prema’s Robert Shwartzman spinning at Turn 10.
