F1 TV has released a trailer of a documentary ‘F2: Chasing The Dream’, which they are to broadcast on their platform from January onward.
After the success of Netflix’s F1 Drive To Survive series, the sport’s junior championship, F2, is also getting its own documentary series, namely ‘F2: Chasing The Dream’. The first trailer of the new series – timed at 1m14s – was released by F1 TV on Saturday.
The trailer featured some of the big moments from the 2019 F2 season, including the sad weekend of Spa-Francorchamps, where a crash took away Anthoine Hubert’s life and left Juan Manuel Correa injured as the Ecuador-American racer pushes to recover.
The documentary’s first episode will go live on January 2, 2020, with five episodes to be telecasted on the F1 TV platform. No more details has been released thus far and it is unclear if it is F1’s own production or a third party is involved in making the series.
The length of the episodes is unknown as well, along with the details of the release, whether daily or weekly. The documentary, though, makes F2 a valuable feeder series to F1 as they aim to showcase the series’ and the drivers’ importance towards the bigger step.
It should also relay the information, as Renault Academy Driver Jack Aitken, mentioned, in the trailer, that the F2 drivers also have to work extremely hard and that it is not mere, getting into the car and racing in circles, without any preparation.
The 2019 F2 season was won by ART Grand Prix’s Nyck de Vries, who has moved to Formula E with Mercedes, while second placed DAMS’ Nicholas Latifi will step up to F1 with Williams and third placed UNI-Virtuosi Racing’s Luca Ghiotto is moving to sportscar.
While F2 seems to be at the forefront of the documentary series, but it will be interesting to see if they include F3 as well, in all or at least one episode, to showcase its importance in the move towards F1 and or professional racing.
