F1 has shared a first track video of the Bahrain Outer Track to be used for the Sakhir GP using the McLaren 720S.
After multiple reports linking the Bahrain Outer Track to make its debut in the 2020 F1 season, the layout was formally confirmed at the end of the August. The 3.543 km Grade 1 licensed circuit will be put in use on December 4-6 weekend.
It will be the second grand prix in Bahrain, following the original layout, with Abu Dhabi forming the final F1 race of the triple-header. The Outer Track uses Turn 1-2-3 of the standard circuit but breaks away from Turn 4 and re-joins at Turn 13 then.
The current F1 simulations predicts qualifying lap times below 55 seconds, and the race laps below 60 seconds, which makes it a mammoth 87-lap for Sakhir GP – the most on the current calendar, beating Canadian GP 70-lap grand prix.
With the Sakhir GP only two weeks away, F1 has shared first-look of the Outer Track layout via a Hot Lap using the McLaren 720S sportscar.
