A unique Formula 1 helmet, designed in collaboration with Disney and signed by 20 drivers from the 2026 championship, has achieved £151,000 at auction, setting a new record for an item sold through F1 Authentics in support of Make-A-Wish International.
The helmet, named “Fuel the Magic”, was sold through the platform operated by Memento Exclusives, marking £151,000 (approximately $201,000) as the highest amount ever recorded at auction for an unused F1 helmet.
In addition to breaking this record, the sale surpassed the previous maximum for a charitable item at F1 Authentics, which was a used racing suit from Max Verstappen sold for £112,000.
The funds raised from the “Fuel the Magic” helmet will go directly to Make-A-Wish International, helping grant wishes that change the lives of children with serious illnesses.
The design of the helmet was created by Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse, and Bobby Kim, global creative director at Disney. With a matte black finish, it incorporates red and yellow details along with illustrations of Mickey Mouse.
Barry Gough, CEO of Memento Exclusives, expressed satisfaction with the funds raised for Make-A-Wish, highlighting it as a source of pride to have been chosen by Disney and F1 to manage the auction of the helmet. “We are thrilled that this has captured the interest of bidders from around the world,” Gough added.
For those who could not participate in the acquisition, there will be a second chance, as an identical helmet will be on public display at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, from August 14 to 16.
