F1 has signed a new deal with Netflix for two more seasons where Drive to Survive continue to run for at least Season 6.
F1 has extended its deal with Netflix for Drive to Survive where it will run for two more seasons until 2024, with next year being Season 5 and 2024 being Season 6. The first time that the series started was in 2019 and has so far seen four seasons done.
The popularity of the sport has sky-rocketed ever since Drive to Survive started, especially in the United States of America. So much so that the country will see three grands prix in 2023 with Austin and Miami being joined by Las Vegas.
While the show has been appreciated for capturing a different audience or enhancing them, there has been criticism around it for creating unnecessary drama in the sport and creating rivalries which is not the case in reality.
Here’s the statement: “Netflix and Formula 1 can today confirm that the highly popular series, Formula 1: Drive to Survive has been renewed for a 5th and 6th season on Netflix. The series has grown in popularity over time, with Season 4 attracting the biggest audience to date and breaking into the weekly Top 10 in 56 countries.
“Offering unprecedented access, the new season will once again take fans behind the scenes, to witness first-hand how the drivers and teams prepare to battle it out for the 2022 and 2023 championships. The series will offer never-before-seen footage and interviews from the sport’s biggest names.
“Formula 1: Drive to Survive is executive-produced by Academy-Award winner James Gay-Rees (Amy, Senna) and Paul Martin (Diego Maradona) for Box to Box Films.”
