After the team bosses’ Top 10 ranking, selected F1 drivers chose their as well with two different names featuring, while Sir Jackie Stewart has knee surgery.

Last week, F1 posted the Top 10 drivers of 2020 selected as per the nine team bosses, where Lewis Hamilton ended up as the best driver from Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. This week, they have selected drivers ranking for the same.

Only 15 F1 drivers casted their vote anonymously and they were: Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly, Antonio Giovinazzi, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat, Nicholas Latifi, Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll, Verstappen.

The ones to miss it were Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. Interestingly, the rules allowed drivers to vote for themselves. F1 stated ‘that not all of them did, while not all that did put themselves as number one’.

Unlike the F1 team bosses, the new list did not have points handed out, as Hamilton and Verstappen took the Top 2 spot once again. Ricciardo pipped Leclerc to be third, while Gasly fared much better in the drivers’ list to be fifth rather than joint ninth/10th.

Russell slotted in sixth from Perez, but Grosjean was a surprise entrant in eighth along with Albon in 10th, whereas Sainz was ninth in between the two, who don’t have a F1 seat for 2021. The two that missed the cut from the bosses’ list were Norris and Bottas.

Sir Jackie Stewart undergoes knee surgery, Alex Zanardi’s update:

With Hamilton winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award for the second time after 2014, the prize giving night got some F1 fans worried seeing Stewart speaking from the hospital bed, as opposed to his home, from where others did.

It was later on revealed that Stewart underwent a knee surgery, which was planned, earlier in the month. He is currently recovering from the same and is expected to make full recovery. It is unclear what exactly happened, which resulted in the surgery.

Elsewhere, Italian publication Corriere published a promising news about Alessandro Zanardi, who is recovering from a road accident earlier in the year. The former F1 racer shifted to Padua earlier in the month, near his home, but remains out of view from public.

Zanardi suffered blows to his head but the report suggests that he is recovering well and responds to the doctors and his family.
